What is Dining Out For Life?
Dining Out For Life® is an annual fundraising event involving the generous participation of volunteers, corporate sponsors and restaurants. Restaurants donate a generous percent of their sales to a local HIV service organization (Project Open Hand in this case), and the local HIV service organization fills participating restaurants with diners.
What was my role in this project?
As the graphic designer for Project Open Hand, my role was to design all necessary printed and digital collateral to promote this event. Collateral included posters, postcards, billboard design, informational table tents for restaurant tables, social media posts, logo design, newspaper ads and postcards.
1. Beginning stages of the design process
Project Open Hand partnered with Dining Out For Life to hold our fundraiser in the East Bay area. Dining Out For Life already has a branding guideline, however, there was no logo specific to Dining Out For Life East Bay. Pictured below are the several variations of DOFL-EB logos I designed to be used throughout all design materials.
2. Visiting restaurants for promotional videos
As it was our first year hosting Dining Out For Life in the East Bay, marketing was a must. I participated in visiting restaurant partners to film testimonials to market the event. Below is an example video I edited with an animated logo introduction I created as a promotional piece for the event. As part of the marketing, I painted body-sized utensils with DOFL colors (shown at the end of the video).
3. Mocking up promotional print materials
Pictured below are my first iterations of the printed collateral.
